About Rockton Elementary School

Rockton Elementary School opened in August 2020. It represents years of planning, collaboration, and dedication by many people who worked tirelessly to make this dream a reality. Our school is proudly located at 670 Highway 8, directly in front of the Beverly Community Centre and Arena, at the heart of the Rockton community.

The school is surrounded by beautiful outdoor grounds and has access to a variety of fields maintained by the City of Hamilton, baseball, soccer, football, tennis, and additional playground facilities. The City and Rockton Lions Club also completed an incredible accessible walking/rolling trail in 2025. These outdoor spaces provide students with opportunities for physical activity, play, and outdoor learning, supporting both well‑being and healthy, active lifestyles.

Rockton Elementary School has been thoughtfully designed with bright, welcoming learning spaces and state‑of‑the‑art lighting and air handling systems. The building is fully accessible and designed to ensure that all students, staff, and visitors are able to move through the space comfortably and safely.

Our school includes a large gymnasium that can be divided into two smaller gyms with a drop‑down curtain, as well as a fully accessible stage area. We also have excellent specialty spaces, including an instrumental music room, along with spacious art and science classrooms that support hands‑on and creative learning. The Learning Commons serves as a central hub for reading, research, and collaborative inquiry, providing a flexible and welcoming space that supports literacy and learning across all grades. We are currently working on creating a Makerspace in this area, along with enhanced STEM and Robotics activities.

For the 2025-2026 school year, Rockton Elementary School has included 4 Kindergarten classrooms and 17 classrooms serving students in Grades 1 to 8, supporting learners at every stage of their elementary journey.

Upon entering the school, guests will notice three country school bells and matching school drawings proudly displayed in our main entrance. These bells come from the rural schools that were closed and amalgamated to form this new school: Beverly Central Elementary School, Dr. John Seaton Elementary School, and Queen’s Rangers Elementary School. These bells serve as a reminder of our proud history and the strong, lasting connections we continue to share with our local community.
